Google Chrome showcases potential icon designs to all the more likely match macOS Big Sur

With the most recent update to Chrome, Google has launched another adjusted square icon for the browser on macOS. In any case, it appears to be another icon upgrade is in transit with Google teasing some expected icons for Chrome to more readily match the design language of macOS Big Sur.

Google Chrome version 87 launched today on Windows and macOS, bringing a large group of new features, yet the most promptly perceptible change was another icon for macOS, incompletely themed to the style of Big Sur. Coordinating the style of the icon of Chrome for iOS, the new icon basically places the standard Google Chrome icon into an adjusted square with a white background.

To cause Chrome look and to feel more at home on macOS Big Sur, Google seems to be working on a more huge update of the browser’s icon. On Twitter tonight, Elvin Hu, an individual from Google Chrome’s design team, shared three likely designs to add an energy of Big Sur’s “neumorphism.”

The first design is actually what you can see starting the present Chrome 87 release on macOS, while the last two use light and shadow in various manners to make a feeling of depth. The tweet is planned as an approach to open the floor to community feedback on which direction makes the most sense.

Somewhere else on Twitter, Alex Ainslie, head of design for Google Chrome, quickly shared about the delicate balance of keeping every one of Chrome’s logos across different platforms feeling reliably “Chrome-y,” “Google-y,” and “OS-y” — which means it matches the design language of a specific operating system.
