Improvements to Tesla Sentry Mode are on the horizon, but security is unaffected

Although there will be no bearing on the safety of your car or possessions, Tesla intends to enhance the Sentry Mode security function on its cars.

Rather, Tesla is aiming to enhance the efficiency and battery drain of the Sentry Mode function, which has a history of depleting the vehicle’s range and battery life when in use.

Sentry Mode, a function that captures everything that happens around your Tesla, has assisted consumers in resolving issues ranging from accident culpability to vandalism.

Notwithstanding its benefits, this feature uses battery life and has been known to deplete vehicle batteries because it operates even when the automobile is not in use.

Senior VP of Tesla’s Powertrain Drew Baglino stated that the company is focusing on efficiency and power consumption to reduce the amount of energy Sentry Mode uses.

According to him, a software upgrade slated for the second quarter should address some of the energy usage problems Sentry Mode is generating.

“Sentry Model power consumption needs improvement, the team is working to reduce by ~40% in a Q2 software update,” Baglino said in a Tweet.

Although Sentry Mode is undoubtedly a very useful function for owners, some believe that the energy it consumes is excessive, hence it is not always in use.

Sentry Mode’s increased effectiveness should enable owners to activate the feature more frequently, protecting not just their own vehicles but also the vehicles of others in their vicinity.
