Li Auto Unveils the All-New L9 Flagship EREV SUV

Li Auto has introduced the all-new Li L9 flagship SUV in China, featuring two trims, a third-generation EREV powertrain, an 800V active suspension chassis, and plans for an international rollout in Q3 2026.

Today, Li Auto launched the all-new Li L9 flagship extended-range SUV in China, with immediate deliveries available in two trims: Ultra and Livis. The pre-sale price for the L9 Livis is reported to be 559,800 yuan (approximately $77,400). The company announced this launch alongside its plans for an International Exclusive Version aimed at overseas markets, set for release in the third quarter of 2026. The second-generation L9 is equipped with a third-generation extended-range powertrain and a new 800V active suspension chassis. Li Auto claims a pure electric range of 420 km (around 261 miles) and a combined range of 1,650 km (approximately 1,025 miles).

Highlights
Two trims available at launch in China: Ultra and Livis editions, with deliveries commencing on launch day.
Third-generation EREV powertrain: 420 km pure electric range and 1,650 km combined range, according to Li Auto (cycle not specified).
800V chassis architecture: Features active suspension, steer-by-wire, and rear-wheel steering.
International Exclusive Version expected in Q3 2026: Targeting Central Asia, the Middle East, and other markets at launch.

Powertrain and Chassis
The all-new L9 utilizes Li Auto’s third-generation extended-range system, where a combustion generator charges the battery while electric motors power the wheels. Li Auto reports a pure electric range of 420 km and a combined range of 1,650 km. The company has not clarified whether these figures are based on CLTC or WLTP; neither is directly comparable to an EPA rating, and U.S. range expectations should not be drawn from these figures.

The chassis integrates an 800V active suspension with steer-by-wire and rear-wheel steering. Li Auto characterizes the platform as a flagship architecture for what it refers to as “embodied intelligence” — a concept the company has applied to its newer L-series models, including the earlier Li L8.

Cockpit and Cabin
The interior features a 29-inch panoramic display and a state-of-the-art smart cockpit powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8797 platform. The cabin accommodates six passengers across three rows. Li Auto markets the L9 as a full-size SUV aimed at family use, aligning with its overall L-series strategy.

Livis Trim and Exterior
The L9 Livis introduces four unique two-tone color options — Truffle Gold with Titanium Gold, Purple with Titanium Gold, Green with Titanium Gold, and Black with Titanium Gold — complemented by standard 22-inch wheels. The company describes its design philosophy as a “future icon,” aimed at giving the SUV a more authoritative flagship look.

International Strategy
Li Auto announced that the International Exclusive Version will maintain the L9’s essential powertrain and chassis features while being tailored to local markets. Localization efforts include an email-based version of the Li Auto App for international users, compatibility with global charging standards, enhancements for climate-specific durability, navigation linked to local mapping and traffic services, and a localized infotainment system that receives over-the-air updates.

Li Auto Chairman and CEO Li Xiang characterized the launch as a technology-driven evolution of the previous L9: “The earlier L9 achieved success by clearly defining its product; the All-New Li L9 will establish its competitive edge through technology. This is the genuine value of a flagship intelligent SUV. Our global expansion commenced in Central Asia and the Middle East, with Europe already in progress. Asia and Europe will be our next critical battlegrounds.”

The company began its international market entry in 2025, targeting regions such as Central Asia, the Caucasus, and North Africa. The Q3 2026 global launch of the all-new L9 represents a step forward in what Li Auto refers to as a two-pillar strategy that integrates domestic and international sales channels. The extended-range SUV format that characterized the original L9 — first introduced by BMW with the i3 and subsequently adopted by several other EVs — is the technical foundation Li Auto plans to leverage in these markets.
