YouTube now allows you to conceal Shorts

You now possess the ability to eliminate short-form videos from your YouTube feed if you prefer not to view them. YouTube has introduced a feature that allows you to set your Shorts feed limit to zero minutes, which may assist in curbing doomscrolling, particularly on mobile devices. The video-sharing platform initially launched a Shorts feed limit in October of last year, but the minimum option available was 15 minutes. Once the 15 minutes have elapsed, a pop-up will appear reminding you to take a break.

Earlier this year, the feature was integrated with parental controls, enabling guardians to establish time limits for younger users. YouTube mentioned at that time that parents would soon have the option to set the timer to zero.

Currently, the Shorts timer is available not only for parents but for all users. When you select this option, you might see a notification stating, “Scrolling is paused but you may still see individual Shorts.” Additionally, you may need to refresh your app for short-form videos to be removed from your feed.

To block Shorts from appearing for you, navigate to the Settings page in the YouTube mobile app. Look for “Time management” and scroll down to “Daily limits,” where you will find the “Shorts feed limit” section. If you prefer not to eliminate Shorts entirely, you can select from the other available options, with two hours being the maximum time limit.
