YouTube Shorts Now Integrate Google Lens

Google Lens is being beta tested on YouTube Shorts. By incorporating this technology into the short-form video platform, viewers will be able to look up additional details about a clip. This week, the feature will be made available to all Shorts users.

What is the functionality of the feature?

Users can pause videos while scrolling through Shorts by tapping on the screen. After that, a menu with the word “Lens” will appear on top of the screen. Click the button and then select the section you wish to search. After that, Google Lens will just show viewers the images that are relevant to them. In order to provide language preferences, Lens will also have a translate button. Google also made it clear that while the function is still in beta testing, there won’t be any advertisements in search results. This week, Google Lens on Shorts’ beta version began to be made available to all users. As a result, users can test the functionality and observe its real-world operation.

What is it capable of?

Users may look up details about things, plants, and animals they see in a movie using Shorts’ Google Lens feature. A viewer can utilize Lens to look for a particular landmark and find out more about the location of the video’s filming, for example, if they are viewing a short with a landmark in the background.

Restrictions and Accessibility

Instead of using “biometric facial recognition” to identify specific individuals in a video, the Google Lens tool might display results for “notable public figures.” Additionally, it will not initially be accessible on Shorts with retail affiliate links and will not display advertisements in results during the experimental phase. This week, the beta version of this feature will be made available to all viewers.
