Power Sportz files Police complaint in Gurugram

Power Sportz, Indias first live digital sports channel filed a complaint on 16 June, the day of the India-Pakistan match of the World Cup, in the office of the Commissioner of Police, Gurugram.. Power Sportz, in its complaint has mentioned that a gentleman called the office on 12th June at the Power Sportz office, introducing himself as an authorized employee of the Ambience Mall, Gurugram and asking for the live streaming rights of the India Pakistan match to be screened at the Ambience Mall.

He was given classified and confidential information to carry out the live streaming process at the Mall. In turn, when Power Sportz wanted authorization documents from him, it was realized that he was not an employee of the Ambience Mall, and was masquerading as one, to get information.

When asked  whether Power Sportz suspects anyone for the same, Kanthi D Suresh, Editor-in-Chief, Power Sportz in a statement mentioned that there is no specific needle of suspicion on any group, and that it was upto the Gurugram Police to investigate into the matter, but she re-iterated that it definitely comes across as an attempt to disturb the normal course of our World Cup live coverage, which we undertake everyday, within the purview of our contractual agreements.

It may be mentioned here that A Gurugram court on 8th june had restrained Star India Pvt Ltd from interfering with Powersportz.tv.’s right for live telecast of the Cricket World Cup in digital platform till July 1. The court also clarified that the injunction was operative qua rights of Konnexions Broadcast under the signed agreements with vendors in UK, for the World Cup rights and anything done in violation thereof would not be covered under the injunction order.
