A Humanoid Robot for Household and Work Tasks Is Unveiled by an Israeli Startup

Prof. Amnon Shashua, the pioneer of Mobileye, founded an Israeli business that just debuted its AI-powered humanoid robot, which can be used for both domestic and commercial work.

In 2022, Shashua, the business’s chairman, Prof. Lior Wolf, a former Facebook AI scientist who now works as the CEO of Mentee Robotics, Prof. Shai Shalev-Shwartz, the CTO of Mobileye, and Prof. Wolf launched the company.

The company claims that their robot will be ready for the market in the first quarter of the following year, and it has already raised $17 million in funding.

The robot can lift up to 25 kg of weight and conduct heavy lifting in warehouses in addition to cleaning and washing duties around the house.

“We are on the cusp of a convergence of computer vision, natural language understanding, strong and detailed simulators, and methodologies on and for transferring from simulation to the real world,” said Shashua.

“At Mentee Robotics we see this convergence as the starting point for designing the future general-purpose bi-pedal robot that can move everywhere with the brains to perform household tasks and learn through imitation tasks it was not previously trained for.”
