Jayant Vishnu Narlikar is an Indian astrophysicist who is a defender of consistent state cosmology. He fostered the conformal gravity hypothesis, usually known as the Hoyle-Narlikar hypothesis, alongside Sir Fred Hoyle. Narlikar is additionally the Founder-Director of The Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA), an independent establishment set up by the UGC.
