Google Updates The Safari and Edge Browsers With Voice Typing and Automatic Captioning

Google offers voice editing for speaker notes in Slides, document editing in Docs, and the ability to enable automatic captioning for presentations in Slides, however these functions are exclusive to Google Chrome users.

The search engine behemoth declared over the weekend that it has chosen to make these functionalities available for additional browsers, including Edge and Safari. This is a significant step toward enabling more people to interact with Docs and Slides in a way that is inclusive and accessible.

You can now enable voice typing and captions if you’re running Safar or Edge. Following that, the web browser will manage the speech-to-text feature, choose the speech processing method, and then send text data to Google Slides and Docs.

Remember that these functionalities are currently limited to desktop use. Administrators will also have the ability to manage the web browsers that are allowed in their domain.

The new features will not be available to all users in the Rapid Release domains for up to two weeks. Conversely, the Scheduled Release domain deployment will begin on June 11 and take up to three days to complete.

All Google Workspace customers, Google Workspace Individual subscribers, and users with personal Google accounts can use voice typing and automated captions in Safari and Edge.
