Models.com, which is one of the most visited and followed fashion web sites worldwide for all Industry professions recently featured 19 Indian models shot by photographer Kay Sukumar and named them “India’s new crop of models”. Models.com is a daily must-read for fashion insiders, photographers, casting directors, agents, art directors, editors, models, and fashionistas to stay up to date on the latest trends in the industry.

Kay is an Indian born – Australian fashion photographer who is predominantly based in London, UK. Kay was recently signed with Faze Management in India.

Kay Sukumar has been known to shoot with and launch new faces for multiple well-reputed global modeling agencies such as IMG Models, Storm Models, Division Models to name a few. On his recent visit to India after being signed to Faze management, he decided to handpick the best models from 3 different agencies in Mumbai, who he felt would be perfect for the international market and planned an editorial around them and the beautiful, vibrant and culture-packed streets of Mumbai. This shoot was followed by a short interview from each model talking about the beauty that is India.

With a reputation of working with top Indian celebrities such as Ranveer Singh, Janhvi Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Rakul Preet Singh, Kay is looking to base himself in Mumbai, India at the moment where he is also very closely working with top Indian brands such as Manish Malhotra, Hemanth & Nandita, Koovs Fashion and Chumbak.  After this recent feature showcasing Indian models being so successful, Kay plans to do multiple editorial shoots for International magazines such as Schön, Fashion Gone Rogue, Vanity Teen, The Fashionistoto to help promote models of color as there is very limited material out there at the moment.

After keeping a very busy schedule while in India kay is also looking to expand and mentor up and coming photographers to horn their skills and polish their craft to not only grow as photographers but also shape up as a complete individual. In Kay’s words “Photography is more about understanding emotion than it is about using a camera”.
