Google Maps’ Redesigned Bottom Bar Is Arriving For Android Users

On Android, the recently revealed Google Maps bottom bar—which we first saw at I/O yesterday—is beginning to appear.

The bottom bar on Google Maps is being simplified to only say Explore, You, and Contribute. The Go, Saved, and Updates tabs are integrated into You, while the first and last tabs remain unaltered.

You keep the overall design and the bookmark icon that is identical to Saved. The top-right corner is now where you may access business messages and notifications instead of the search bar at the top. The bottom bar icon may be badged with alerts. In the meantime, “Go” has been de-prioritized and is now a list called “Saved trips.”

Dynamic Color and a tall Material You bottom bar are still not available in Google Maps. Having said that, the app will employ Google Photos’ expressive image carousel.

Version 11.127.x of the updated Google Maps bottom bar has only been reported to us thus far, and it has started to appear on Android devices. Late in March, Google revealed the “cleaner home screen,” which will “give Maps a fresh new look.” “New pin colors that make it easier to find places on the map” should also be included.
